Interview with Thorsten Schwarz, Managing Director at Norddeutsche Seekabelwerke (NSW)

Thorsten Schwarz explains in an interview with Joanna Scheffel from IQPC the background of NSW and the best method to bury cables in the sea ground – and the difference of cabling in the North Sea and the Baltic Sea. In his opinion, burying cables via the ploughing technique puts by far the most stress on the cable itself.

Torben Meyer, Produktmanager im Vertrieb der EWE Energie AG berichtet über die erstmalige Einführung von Smart Metering. Für das BSI Schutzprofil müssen neue Zähler installiert werden – welchen Aufwand das bedeutet, klärt er im Interview mit Joanna Scheffel von IQPC. Besonders für die Einbindung regenerativer Energiequellen sei ein Smart Grid unabkömmlich, so Meyer.

Shale Gas: New study about Fracking

Media coverage of "fracking", the method used to extract shale gas, has been very negative in the last years.
Researchers at the University of Texas, Dr. Charles Groat and Dr. Thomas Grimshaw have now published an independent study that reveals hydraulic fracturing, or "Fracking", to be less dangerous to the environment than previously supposed. For the study, major shale plays in North America were examined, "Barnett" (Texas), "Marcellus" (Pennsylvania) and "Haynesville" (Louisiana).
Fracking was feared to be responsible for the contamination of ground water, but Groat's team of researchers could not find evidence for this at their testing areas.
